Mario Kart Tournament — All Ages Welcome!

Grab a controller and get ready to race! Join us for a knockout-style Mario Kart tournament open to players of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a Rainbow Road veteran or picking up a controller for the first time, come test your driving skills, dodge some shells, and battle it out for tournament bragging rights.

This is a single-elimination event, so bring your best racing strategy — one bad banana peel could send you home early! The tournament runs for two hours, with rounds moving quickly to keep the action going.

Mario Kart Tournament Rules

Format

  • Single-elimination knockout bracket — one race, win or go home
  • Best of 1 per matchup
  • All ages compete together (we may split into age divisions if we get a big turnout)
  • Random number assigned at check-in determines your bracket placement

Check-In

  • Arrive by 3:45pm — check-in and number assignment happen before racing starts
  • Numbers are assigned randomly, so no picking your matchups
  • Tournament runs for 2 hours total, so please be on time — a full bracket needs every round to move quickly

The Basics

  • All ages and skill levels welcome — no experience necessary
  • Library staff select the course for each race, to keep things fair and moving
  • Item mode: all items on (keeps it chaotic and fun for all ages)

Good Sportsmanship

  • Cheer for your fellow racers — no trash talk
  • No unplugging, restarting, or interfering with someone else’s race
  • Controller issues? Let a staff member know right away so we can pause fairly

Logistics

  • If you’re not present when your race is called, you may forfeit your spot (staff discretion — we know life happens)
  • Time limit is firm at 2 hours, so matches will move quickly to keep the bracket on schedule

  • This is about community, not just winning — banana peels happen to everyone!
